Gameplay

During my time at Sisler CREATE I was tasked with developing a Unity game on my own. This was a daunting task, as I had less than 9 months of development time. Sky Engines is what I came up with.
I designed a simple core game loop so that I could focus the majority of my time on mechanics. Fly an airship, fend off enemies, get as high of a score as you can, repeat.
Over the course of this project I became very familiar with Unity. I learned the challenges of solo development. I also improved my skill in programming NPC behaviour.
One of the most important lessons I learned was the importance of proper code modularity. I made that mistake and because of it, changing and iterating upon my code became increasingly difficult as development progressed.
However, whatever challenges I faced, I overcame, and I successfully completed development to the standards I was given.
